Nagpur is home to the ‘Narrow Gauge Rail Museum,’ and it houses some of the most archaic out-of-use locomotives, carriages, and old steam engines. Besides, the main engine parts the museum also houses various artefacts like signalling equipment, old telephones, hand lamps, that were used to railroad. However, the major attraction of the museum is the narrow-gauge tank engine that was built by the British in 1916 and it is known to weigh around 15 tons.

During the pre-Independence India, when the country was divided into provinces, the British considered Nagpur as the centre of India and it served as the capital of the Central Province. And, to celebrate the significance of Nagpur, the British erected a sandstone pillar and a statue of four horses and believed that it was the central part of India.
