Top Ingredients to Make Ready Almond Flavored Ice Cream 

Almond flavored ice cream is the best for individuals who love nuts particularly almonds. This ice cream smells great because of the almond extract and the chopped roasted almonds. The most difficult part to make ready almond flavored ice cream at home is waiting for the ice cream custard base to cool properly before stirring. It requires almost 3 – 4 hours in the refrigerator to get it cold enough to pour into the ice cream maker. But I ensure you that it is worth the wait.

Top Ingredients to Make Ready Almond Flavored Ice Cream

  1. Sugar: To sweeten your almond flavored ice cream, 3/4 cup of sugar is required. You can use sugar, honey, maple syrup, or any other sweetening agent.
  2. Whole milk: To prepare the custard base of almond flavored ice cream, 1 3/4 cups whole milk is required.
  3. Heavy cream: 2 cups of heavy cream is added to give a thicker texture to the ice cream.
  4. Egg yolks: These are used to make the custard base for ice cream. You will need a total of 4 egg yolks.
  5. Vanilla essence: To make almond flavored ice cream more flavorful, 1 tsp vanilla essence is added. 
  6. Almond extract: You will need to have a very small amount of almond extract such as 1 tsp. But it is a highly essential ingredient as you cannot prepare almond flavored ice cream without this ingredient.  
  7. Crushed roasted almonds: 1/3 cup of chopped roasted almonds will give a great nutty flavor to the ice cream. 

Instructions

  1. Add milk, sugar, half of the cream, and a pinch of salt into the pan, mix them well, and heat over medium flame.
  2. Heat until the edges of the pan begin to bubble. In the meantime, beat the egg yolks in another bowl and set them aside.
  3. Once the milk mixture starts bubbling and steaming around the edges, take out one cup of this mixture. Then gradually add the hot milk mixture into the beaten yolks with continuous stirring to make a smooth texture of custard base.
  4. Ensure that the eggs do not scramble when you pour the hot milk mixture. Then pour the remaining milk mixture and mix well to make a thin custard.
  5. Pour the custard into the pan and cook just for 1 – 2 minutes or until it begins to coat the back of a spoon.
  6. Add the remaining heavy cream and warm custard into a mixing bowl. Keep in mind to pass the custard through a clean mesh strainer before mixing it with the heavy cream.
  7. Now add vanilla essence as well as almond extract. Mix these ingredients very well, cover them properly, and completely cool in the fridge for 4 – 6 hours or overnight before further processing.
  8. When the custard base is completely chilled, add to the ice cream maker and stir as per the manufacturer’s directions.
  9. When it is almost halfway done, add chopped roasted almonds and again stir it until it is ready. A good quality ice cream maker will take just 20 minutes to make ready a soft-serve stage.
  10. Now pour this almond flavored ice cream mixture into an airtight container, cover, and put it into the freezer for 4 – 6 hours or overnight.
  11. Once frozen, garnish with chopped almonds, serve, and enjoy.
