2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-class Unveiled

Mercedes has unveiled its Maybach S-Class for the upcoming year. It will stay true to doing what it does best – pamper its owners in the lap of luxury. The previous model sold more than 60,000 units all over the world after its launch in 2015. The 2021 model ups the game further by offering more comfort and equipment.

Gracefully elegant

Like most limousines, the new Maybach S-Class is one very long luxury car. Its wheelbase is 5469mm long. The cosmetic changes on the outside are minor to help differentiate it from the other S-Classes. Up-front, it boasts of the signature Maybach grille with slender vertical bars with ‘Maybach’ inscribed above, chrome fin atop the bonnet, chrome appliques on lower parts of the front and rear bumpers, massive doors, two-tone paintwork with a ‘dividing line’ and 34-spoke alloy wheels.

Opulence and features

The cabin remain minimalist and gets a second-generation MBUX infotainment system, a 12.8-inch tablet-style OLED infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch 3D digital instrument display along with three screens for the occupants at the back. The Maybach gets a wood finish for the front seatbacks, while the contre console at the back gets an identical finish too. It features Executive seat that can be reclined, while the backrest for the front passenger seat can be tilted forward. There’s also a massage function for the rear seat calf rests, a shoulder heating function, powered rear door opening and closing, optional rear refrigeration, active road noise compensation and a Burmester 4D sound system. You also get a head-up display with augmented reality, active ambient lighting system, LEDs, Interior Assist function.

Engine and tech

The new Mercedes-Benz Cars gets quite a couple of engines that happen to be assisted by a 48V ‘EQ Boost’ mild-hybrid system that offers 19bhp for short intervals. The engine is paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox with power being sent to all four wheels. It also features a rear-axle steering system and comes with 18 airbags all around. There is even E-Active Body Control suspension and the Pre-Safe Impulse side function, the former being an added option. It features Level 3 autonomous driving abilities too.

Coming soon?

The Maybach S-Class has sold remarkably well in certain international markets in recent times, and the new car is expected to go sale in certain markets in early 2021. As of now, we know that the newly unveiled S-Class will reach Indian shores towards the end of next year, and we’re expecting the first variant to be the S500. So expect the Maybach version of the same to follow only in 2022. But expect a whopping price tag as well. Also, grab the latest info on the upcoming cars, only at autoX.
